EXPERIENCE
Mr. Funk prides himself in navigating his clients through complicated legal issues in hopes of obtaining positive business solutions when possible or legal results when needed. Mr. Funk has tried commercial litigation matters as lead counsel, in addition to serving as co-counsel in other trials and dispute resolution proceedings.
Mr. Funk has represented a vast array of clients across Nevada, California, and the country. Mr. Funk’s primary clientele includes individuals and businesses in a variety of industries. During his time with Gunderson Law Firm, Mr. Funk has represented entrepreneurs, businesses owners, judgment debtors, judgment creditors, borrowers, guarantors, secured parties, landlords, tenants, developers, contractors, real estate brokers and agents, as well as homeowners.
Mr. Funk also has extensive experience collecting upon judgments and routinely advises judgment creditors, judgment debtors, and other attorneys on Nevada’s judgment collection laws. As part of Mr. Funk’s litigation practice, he routinely deals with complex electronic discovery issues including the preservation and production of appropriate metadata and records.
Prior to joining Gunderson Law Firm, he earned his Juris Doctorate at the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he was on academic scholarship throughout his education. While in law school, Mr. Funk earned the top grade in Trial Advocacy, Sales and Leases, Advanced Legal Analysis and Writing, and Secured Transactions. Mr. Funk also interned for Honorable Judge Patrick Flanagan at Washoe County District Court and served as a summer law clerk for the Gunderson Law Firm.
Prior to law school, Mr. Funk received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Reno and his high school diploma from Reno High. While attending college, Mr. Funk worked in the field for a locally owned northern Nevada construction company. Through Mr. Funk’s work experience on various construction job sites and in his various roles, he gained first-hand experience that provides him with a unique perspective when faced with construction litigation issues.
PROFESSIONAL AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Mr. Funk is a board member and the secretary for the High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation (“HSLF”). HSLF is a non-profit that believes lacrosse develops an individual’s character and acts as a catalyst for contributing to stronger, more robust community. He is an active player and member of the Reno/Tahoe men’s club lacrosse team—the “Tahoe Dawgs. Finally, Mr. Funk was previously the head coach of Reno High School’s boys Varsity Lacrosse Program from 2013-2017, and returned after his “retirement” as an assistant from 2019 through present.
